Design For Culture specialises in the design of exhibitions and spaces with a cultural focus – museums, galleries, retail and restaurants. Design For Culture’s project approach always focuses on telling captivating stories and bringing out the essence of the objects and ideas to be presented.

Design For Culture was founded by Hoi Chi Ng and Sjoerd Hoekstra.

Hoi Chi practices architecture since graduating from the Architectural Association School of Architecture London, with Honor in 2005 and in Hong Kong since 2013. He focuses on exploration of material development and challenging the conventions in creating alternative meaningful experience of space, working across the fields of fashion, retail, cafe, cultural exhibitions, gallery to elderly living environment. He founded espresso bar Coming Soon Coffee in London in 2011. It was ranked among the top 5 for on London Best Coffee App and was finalist for Young British Foodie Award. Hoi Chi is a qualified sensory judge for HKBC and a Q Grader.

Sjoerd has over 20 years experience as a design consultant, focusing on environment, branding, furniture and product design for clients worldwide. He is one of the founders of Three Dogs, a specialist retail design consultancy. Sjoerd is a graduate of The Design Academy, The Netherlands and a visiting lecturer at the Hong Kong Polytechnic School of Design where he teaches exhibition design and design studios.
